I love a salty, crunchy mix, and since it’s Chex Mix Szn, I figured I’d add my favorite Chex Mix recipe to the chat. A few people told me that they snagged jars of Holy Tshili Chili Crisp after my Chili Crisp Turkey post, and that filled me with warm fuzzies, so here’s another recipe that uses what was definitely one of my favorite grocery scores of 2023. Of course, you can use any chili crisp you like, and if you happen to have picked up a jar of Little Goat’s Ranch Chili Crisp, you can even save yourself an ingredient because that one has all the ranchy goodness mixed right in.
It should come as a surprise to no one that I have strong feelings about Chex Mix ingredients. Pretzels are optional, but crunchy ramen snacks are not. Chex cereal is obviously important, but Cheez-Its might be even moreso. (Maybe I should call this Cheez-It Mix, because that’s really where my heart is.) And oyster crackers are the perfect carb sponges for your seasoning blend, so don’t skip those either.
Ranch Chili Crisp Chex Mix
Ingredients
2 cups Corn Chex
2 cups Rice Chex
1 cup Oyster Crackers
2 cups Cheez-Its
1 cup Crunchy Ramen Snack
1 (7.56 oz) jar Holy Tshili Chili Crisp
1/3 cup Ranch seasoning (1-2 packets, depending on your Ranch tolerance level)
Directions
Preheat oven to 250℉. Prepare two sheet trays with a silpat or parchment paper. Combine crunchy stuff in a large mixing bowl. Add one jar of Holy Tshili Chili Crisp and 1/3 cup Ranch seasoning, and stir gently, careful not to crush the crunchy bits, until every piece has been kissed by chili crisp and ranch. Divide evenly between two sheet trays, and bake for about 45 minutes, gently stirring every 15 minutes or so. Allow to cool completely before packaging or serving. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
